Mules basketball has four commit for 2010-11 season

WARRENSBURG - The University of Central Missouri Mules basketball team has announced the addition of four student-athletes that will join the squad in 2010-11.
"We are very excited about the addition of these four outstanding student-athletes. With the loss of three outstanding seniors from last year's conference champion and Sweet 16 team we know we have a lot to replace." Mules Head Coach Kim Anderson said, "We feel these young men address our needs and are quality individuals."
UCM finished the 2009-10 season 27-4, winning the MIAA Regular Season Championship, and advancing to the NCAA-II South Central Region Championship game.
Below is the bio information on each member of the 2010-11 class:
Joel Barkers - Forward
6-7 * 225 * Senior
Washington, D.C. * University of Hartford (Hartford, Conn.)
Played one season at Division I University of Hartford for head coach John Gallagher, averaging 8.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest… Played the previous two seasons at Kirkwood Community College in Iowa with current Mules guard Bryce Brunz… Averaged 10.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game during his final season at Kirkwood… ranked 18th in the country in rebounding and earned All-Region XI honors… helped Kirkwood to a pair of Region XI championships and consecutive NJCAA DII national tournament berths… the Eagles were national runners-up in 2009 and finished third in 2008… attended high school at Mt. Zion Christian Academy.
Lance Beckwith - Point Guard
6-1 * 185 * Junior
Raleigh, N.C. * Wake Tech Community College (Raleigh, N.C.)
Helped Wake Tech Community College to a 17-11 mark in only its second year of basketball for head coach Van Williams… Averaged 18.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game for the Eagles, leading the team in scoring his final season… Hit 73 percent from the free throw line… Scored a career-high 47 points against Sandhills Community College… Played high school ball at Word of God Christian Academy for his father, Levi Beckwith… Teammate of the 2010 No. 1 NBA Draft pick of the Washington Wizards, John Wall… As a senior, he helped the Rams to a 31-3 record and a state title.
