So it has come upon us once again. Who will be the Mules' football team's starting quarterback?
Honestly, nobody knows yet.
I've talked to a lot of people on the team and in the athletic department and the answers are all the same. They don't know yet.
As of right now, it's probably a two-man race for the starting spot. The two quarterbacks battling are Tommy Corwin and Eric Czerniewski. Coach Willie Fritz said he will have an idea of who will be the starting QB after this Thursday night's scrimmage.
Here are the arguments for both guys to get the starting spot.
Corwin: Here is a guy that has a great arm for the D-II level. He can throw the ball a long with accuracy. Corwin is also good in the pocket and seems to know how to make quick decisions. He also came in last spring to learn the new offense the Mules will be showing this season which helps Corwin's learning curve.
Czerniewski: This QB had bright moments last year. Had his best game of the season against national runner-up Northwest Missouri State. Czerniewski is more of a get-out-of-the-pocket QB that can find open receivers. Also, Czerniewski has been in the program longer than Corwin, which helps when you only have two scrimmages to get ready for the season.
At this point, it's a coin toss. If you know who should be the starting QB, leave a comment and I will put in next week's Muleskinner.

The job should go to Corwin. He has paid his dues and has the pedigree of winning from high school and now at Central Missouri. Playing with a wide-receiver that ended up at Notre Dame and a state title had me very excited when I saw the Mule's had signed Corwin from a large high school like De Smet. (Continued…)

Wow, you don't even give Singleton a mention. That's cold. He looked very good at the last scrimmage and has great running ability as well as passing. (Continued…)

They decided to redshirt Singleton. Interesting decision given his mobility, accuracy and ability to lead teams to winning/championship seasons. Take a look at this video from his days in one of the toughest JC conferences in the country. (Continued…)
