American Democracy Project forum
The American Democracy Project is sponsoring an open forum with Congressman Ike Skelton, Friday at noon in WD 100. Skelton has represented the 4th Congressional District for 30 years, and now serves as chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. The forum is expected to last about an hour and feature a question-and-answer session.

Aiport construction
The Max B. Swisher airport facilities were discussed during the Nov. 28 Industry Roundtable Discussion on campus - specifically the need for the airport to be capable of accommodating corporate clients.
Jason Knipp, MoDOT representative, outlined changes for the airport which will help the University strive to meet goals established in a 20-year airport master plan. The plan includes airport grants totaling $1.62 million from MoDOT's Statewide Transportation Improvement Program.
The grants include $1.35 million for the development of a hangar north of the existing airport terminal and for the construction of a north-south access road that leads to the future terminal site.
Although funds are not yet available, preliminary plans for the terminal include construction of a 139,000-square-foot facility, that would cost more than $2.2 million, not including furnishings.
Photography plans orientation for course abroad
The Department of Photography is offering an orientation class in spring 2008 that will prepare photography students for a nine-day tour in May to Italy and the French Riviera.
The course is for amateurs and students looking to become professional photographers. Students must pay a $300 non-refundable deposit to reserve their seat for the trip. For more information, you may contact Janet Bonsall at 543-4308.
Performing Arts Series transfers
PAS is transferring to the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS). Michelle Schubert, PAS manager, will assume development officer duties upon the hiring of a new series manager of CAHSS in January.
Graduate assistantship experience surveys
The Graduate School requests that all graduate students who had a graduate assistantship in fall 2007 respond to the Graduate Assistant Experience Survey by Dec. 14. The survey is available online at www.ucmo.edu/surveys/?formID=1746.
Distinguished Service Award
Robert L. and Rosalee B. Welling, longtime civic volunteers and supporters of UCM, will receive the Distinguished Service Award at 10 a.m. Dec. 15 during the 2007 winter commencement exercises.
