The UCM wrestling team will compete at the Simpson College Invitational in Indianola, Iowa this weekend after finishing 3-2 at the Jack Hancock Duals in Golden, Colo., Nov. 18.

Jeremy Hudson said there will be a lot of Div.-III and NAIA school at this meet.

"We should have a lot more guys placing at this meet than we did at the Central Missouri Open," Hudson said. "We had a lot of Div.-I schools at our meet and there will be more smaller schools at this meet."

At the Jack Hancock Dual, the Mules beat Div.-I James Madison, 21-17, Newman University of Kansas 38-4 and San Francisco State, 27-12. UCM was beat by Chadron (Neb.) State, 23-9 and Div.-I Eastern Michigan, 35-6.

"We wrestled really well at this meet," said head coach Robin Ersland. "We could have won against Chadron just as easily as we lost to them. Overall, we wrestled well though.

"It is always nice to beat San Francisco State. They are former national champs, and they always have a really good team."
"We did pretty good at this dual," Jessie Sheets said. "Beating a Div.-I school is really good."

"A highlight of the meet was beating Div.-I James Madison," Hudson said. "Everyone wrestled hard in that match, win or lose."

UCM's top wrestlers were Sheets at 174 pounds and Hudson at 184 pounds. Sheets and Hudson both finished the day 5-0.
Sheets beat Chadron State's Matt Weingart, 11-5. He then defeated Andrew Nash of Newman, 4-1.

In his third match, Sheets beat Mike O'Brien of San Francisco State, 9-4.

He won by decision over Eastern Michigan's Quinn Guernsey, 8-1, and lastly won by forfeit against James Madison.

"Jesse wrestled very well," Ersland said. "He really got after it. He did a good job on his feet and on bottom; he needs to work a little bit on the top, but overall, he did well."

Hudson started his day by winning a decision over Chadron State's Matt Davis, 6-1.

Next, he beat Newman's Nate Alvarez, 4-1.
