Starting Friday, families of all students are invited to Central Missouri for Family Weekend 2006, where parents and family members will be able to see campus life in Warrensburg.

"Family Weekend is always an exciting time, and it's a great way to showcase our University," said Brenda Moeder, director of University Housing.

This weekend marks the 10th annual CMSU Family Weekend sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs and other student organizations. The weekend will kick off with the Performing Arts Series' the "Legends of Yesterday," which tributes The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly and The Beatles at 7:30 p.m. in Hendricks Hall.

The University will also have a wide variety of events and activities for families. On Saturday, there will be a 5K Fun Run and Walk in the morning, Jennies' volleyball vs. Northwest Missouri State at 11 a.m., and a pregame tailgating party. Mules' football opens MIAA season play against the defending league champions, the Washburn Ichabods, at 1:30 p.m.

Later Saturday, there will be an ice cream social in the University Quadrangle, and the 7th annual Talent Show and "Family of the Year" presentation will be in Hendricks Hall. Spotlight will present "Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest" at 9:30 p.m. in the Union.

"We have a beautiful campus here in Warrensburg," Moeder said. "I want families to take advantage of our activities and see our talented students, whether it is in the talent show, art display, the band or athletics this weekend."

Throughout the weekend, students will be able to show their family student life. Most
students have not seen their parents since late August, and this weekend will help parents get a feel for the environment college students are living in.

For one Central Missouri student, Lindsey McFarland, it's a chance to see her parents after a month of college life.

"Its going to be great to show my parents college life in things such as the football game, my room, roommate and the atmosphere on campus," McFarland said.

Many University leaders and alumni will be available during the weekend to welcome students' parents and families to campus.
