It seems lately as if every other broadcast is a debate about whether or not we are responsible for global warming. Some even go as far as to say global warming is a myth.
Just by stepping outside on a random day in July is proof enough for us that the earth is, indeed, heating up.
While we can't play a huge role in helping to reverse the damage already done, each of us can do our part to make sure future generations can still enjoy the outdoors during the "dog days" of summer.
Walking whenever possible, carpooling when you can't, gassing up your car in the evening and recycling are small ways to help maintain the only ozone layer we'll ever have.
Luckily, we live in a town where walking is fairly convenient, since most roads have sidewalks and businesses are in close proximity to campus.
The local recycling center is called the Johnson County Sheltered Workshop, and it is located at 609 North Ridgeview Drive in Warrensburg. Think about all the bottles, cans and the very Muleskinner issue in your hands that can easily be recycled. Consider the difference these small, easy steps could make.
Margaret Mead once said, "Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world, for, indeed, that's all who ever have."
